In 2 Action: Information for those working with young people
In 2 Action is the name of our Active Citizenship Project that many of our members are either currently involved in or shortly to be taking part in.
The project is a great way to do something different with the young people you work with that benefits them, your organisation and the wider community.
In 2 Action is about working with young people to help improve relationships between them and the wider community and there are many different topics and areas of work that fall within the project.

There are a number of different ways that you can get involved with the In 2 Action project. To give you an idea of what In 2 Action is all about here is some information about some of the work the In 2 Action team has already done along with details of how to get in touch.
Multi-Session Workshops:We will come and work alongside your staff team to deliver workshops over 2-8 sessions covering arange of different topics and issues. Why not download our In 2 Action workshop flyer for more information?
Personal and Social Education: Passing on information about and helping young people understand more about drugs, alcohol, healthy lifestyles and education. One group that we worked with produced anti-bullying posters for their local school during their project. Here are the posters they made:
Participation Work and Young Leader Training: Getting young people involved in the running of their youth club, group or project in ways such as helping to plan and run activity sessions, creating a code of behaviour or setting up a young people’s committee. We've trained young leaders in a number of our member's project who now regularly help to run the club.
Accrediting Young People’s Work: Setting up Youth Achievement Award and Youth Challenge Award groups that allow young people to get formal recognition for their hard work and learning. Young people who have taken part in Young Leader Training are currently working towards their Youth Achievement Awards.
Peer Education: Working with young people to design new ways of passing on useful information to other young people such as posters about what to do if you see someone being bullied. As part of one project young people learnt new skills such as fabric painting and running team challenges and then used their new skills and knowledge to run their activities for other young people.

Young Leader Training
Young Leader Training is a scheme that will equip young people with the skills they need to work along side your staff in your youth club, group or project. The training will build the young people’s understanding of what it means to take on a position of responsibility and enable them to develop the tools they need to do this effectively.
This training is suitable for any young person who is either currently helping out at your youth club, group or project or would like to do so in the future; for example those who help with tuck, collect subs, organise activities etc. Young people will be able to nominate themselves or can be put forward by other young people or youth workers.
The training will involve a range of different workshops and activities that will combine having fun with a real chance to learn and develop. The training will cover topics such as:
• Leadership
• Communication Skills
• Teamwork
• Planning activities
• An Introduction to Child Protection
• Reviewing your work
• Doing Risk Assessments
• Running a Session
During the training young people will also have a chance to find out a bit more about what its like to apply for a paid job too and to experience some of the processes involved in applying for a job: invaluable information as they move towards adulthood.
Throughout the training the young people will be helped to put together a portfolio which can be formally accredited at the end. Workers from the In 2 Action team will be offering support and guidance throughout the training and during the following months to the young people and to the adult workers at their club, group or project.
If you've got young people at your club, group or project who may be interested being young leaders why not download this leaflet so they can find out more about it?
